Sadomasochism

Sadomasochism refers to the receiving of pleasure -- often sexual -- from acts involving receiving or giving pain or humiliation. The term comes from two authors on the subject Marquis de Sade is responsible for the "Sado" or "Sadism" side and Leopold von Sacher-Masoch the "masochism" side. Players in the BDSM scene, or practitioners of S&M usually seek out sexual gratification from these acts, but often times they derive other forms of pleasure as well.
